At one point in my life I thought it was a good idea to not have privacy settings because I hate when people have privacy settings.
It is super frustrating when you are trying to look up who your ex-boyfriend is currently dating-- who that boy is in your little cousins pictures--looking up a teacher...and then all your plans are foiled by Privacy Settings.
Then I realized how dumb I was. I was essentially making my life easy to stalk simply to avoid being hypocritical...opening myself up...to being stalked.
Anyway! Getting back to my main point...Profile pictures. This profile picture is super special because it is you, and it is unhindered by any such privacy settings.
The Profile Picture is the first thing one sees. So post a picture of yourself Please.
If you are not a giant group of people, do not post a picture of one. If you are not a cartoon, Do not post a picture of one.
Unacceptable |
unacceptable |
There are some exceptions...like always:
Acceptable |
See, the thing is, you do not know how to market yourself. If you are a fun guy, then by all means BE FUN; however, one needs to take into consideration the severity of the subject at hand. Your profile picture is a picture of YOU not a picture of someone else.
My profile picture is my friend and I...understandable because I'm not a narcissistic jerk who clogs facebook with unnecessary Solo shots, webcam shots, and/or instagrams. Solo Shots can be okay though if they are not taken by yourself. If you can't find someone to take a picture of you, don't decide its your duty to do it yourself. Its not that great/important/ no one cares.
Here you go:
Unacceptable (I cannot even find myself) |
Clearly taking this one of myself. Unacceptable |
Acceptable Solo Shot because its funnny |
Acceptable group shot because I see me! |
Perfect Profile Picture |
